I Can't Wait To Come Back!
Overall my experience has bee a positive one. Mombasa as a whole is a beautiful city, with many ethnicities and cultures represented. We were close to the beach, marines and animal encounters in the city as well.
Coast Provincial General Hospital created an atmosphere unlike any hospital experience I have had this far in the United States. Coast Provincial General Hospital is definitely a teaching hospital, as students were present from both local, national and international schools. It is not a hospital for the soft spoken or faint of heart, and aggression is key if you were to be heard. Once you ...

Great Experience in Mombasa, Kenya
I loved Mombasa and I had a great experience at the hospital in OB/GYN. I got to deliver so many babies/vaginal and first assist in c-sections and I know I would not have been able to do this in America.

Great learning experience
On my arrival, Carol and Justina made me feel welcome and safe immediately. As soon as I saw the accommodation, I was surprised that it was a lot better than what I had expected. The 24/7 security made me residence feel safe. The meals were amazing. They were authentic, good and healthy in portion and quality. Anne made sure I was enjoying my food and never had me leaving hungry. The hospital was a great learning experience for me because I was able to see everything in one department including oral surgery, orthodontics, extractions and prosthetics. Justine and ...

My 1st Experience in Arusha, Tanzania.
When I arrived in Tanzania I knew three words. “Jambo” (Hello- kind of), “Poa”(Well/Cool), and “Asante” (Thank You). My first experience in Tanzania was the Elective Africa Driver, Peter, teaching me twenty more words in Swahili on my ride back to Arusha. Not only did I find countless people excited to help me improve my Swahili, I found people willing to teach me about Tanzanian culture, cuisine, and medical care. The orientation provided by the program coordinator, Fabian, showed me the city of Arusha. Our cook Harriet taught me how to make ugali and chapattis, two of the ...

A Really Great Program.
This was a really great program! I loved all the resources and people available to us. I loved that Arusha is a super safe city and that I was able to walk to and from work. Arusha has so much to do outside of work at the hospital. But at the same time the hospital was a very good experience; especially interns of clinical/surgical procedures. Exposure overall, it has been a great 2 months of experiencing a new culture meeting lots of great people (local and other volunteers from all around the world) and learn a ton in ...

A Wonderful Experience
I had a wonderful experience overall. I love Tanzania, Arusha, Levolosi and all the people I met. The accommodation was great, transportation was great, and also the Elective Africa staff were very receptive. I learned so much at the hospital and gained so much exposure as a Premedical student that I never could have gotten in Africa. Thanks EA!

Unforgettable Premedical Shadowing Internship In Mombasa, Kenya
My 3 week experience with Elective Africa was pretty good. The first couple of days, the airport nearby had lost my luggage so I could not do anything, but Carol, the program director, and Anne, the housekeeper & chef, were very helpful and assisted me in communicating with the airports responsible until I got them back. The staff at Coast Provincial General Hospital were very kind and super friendly. Everyone there is always happy to teach you anything you want to know. I loved working in the newborn unit so much, I would not rotate out of the department. At ...

Unforgettable Experience in Mombasa Kenya
The time I had in Mombasa was amazing. Elective Africa is an excellent program to be with. The people who work for EA are very professional and made sure to make my stay as cosy as possible.
The accommodation was much better than I had expected. They made sure to keep our place clean, feed us well and tend to your needs. Carol was especially helpful in everything I needed. She was always available to assist me in anything no matter what time in the day and she always made sure everything was okay. The hospital I was, CPGH was great ...
